What Makes It Tick
Let’s get into the guts of it. For PET blowing, this lamp runs at 400V with 2500W of power, all packed into a 300mm quartz tube. That combo gives you a serious punch of heat in a small space, which is exactly what you need to get the preform to its melt point fast. The 400V setup helps keep the electrical load on your control wiring manageable. But here’s the thing—it runs hot. So you need to make sure your power supply and cooling are up to the task. Plan your airflow before you even plug it in.
The Build
Inside, you’ve got a shortwave halogen element housed in a high-purity quartz tube. Quartz is perfect here because it can handle the sudden shock of heating up and cooling down, and it just blasts out infrared energy without missing a beat. The tube has a reflective coating that pushes all that heat forward. Less wasted energy, and your other parts stay protected. And the connector? It’s an R7s. Double-ended, linear fit. It slides right in, locks down, and holds a solid connection. Even with all the vibration and the constant heating and cooling, it stays put. Replacing a burnt-out lamp is as simple as popping in a new one.
How It Handles on the Floor
On the PET blowing line, this lamp lives at the heating station. You need heat you can count on, and you need it to be repeatable to keep those cycle times tight. The shortwave response means the lamp powers up almost instantly and adjusts on a dime. So when you switch to a different preform size, you can tweak the heat profile without waiting around for things to stabilize. And when a lamp does burn out, the R7s connection gets you back online fast. Now, there is a trade-off.
