Inside, there’s a tungsten filament sitting in a halogen gas mix. The gas is the secret sauce—it stops the filament from evaporating and gunking up the glass. That’s why these things actually last in a tough industrial environment instead of burning out in a heartbeat. The power side of things We build these to hit specific voltage and wattage targets depending on how much space you have to work with. If you go for the high-wattage versions, you get that punchy heat density that rips through surfaces fast. But here’s the thing: keep an eye on your power supply. If you’re pushing high-voltage tubes through wiring or controllers that can’t handle the load, you’re just asking for a premature burnout. And because they put out shortwave IR, the heat doesn’t just sit on the surface—it sinks in deep and fast. Quartz and the “plug-and-play” part The quartz envelope is what makes this whole thing possible. It lets the filament get screaming hot while letting the IR radiation slide right through without getting trapped. To make your life easier, we use standard connectors—think R7s or Sk15. You can wire them up quickly and get moving. Just make sure those connections are tight. A loose socket at high current leads to arcing, and that’s a quick way to kill your equipment. Depending on what you’re doing, some of these also come with special coatings to tweak the light or keep the glass protected. But there’s a catch. All that intensity can be a bit much for some materials. If you aren’t careful with your conveyor speed or how far away the lamp is, you’ll end up scorching your product.
