Getting the Most Out of the 20.25" 1600W Halogen Lamp

Flash curing is all about speed. You need a massive hit of heat, and you need it now. That’s why we went with a 1600W halogen setup running on 240VAC. It hits those temperature spikes instantly, so your parts are cured and moving down the line without any annoying lag. At 20.25 inches long, the lamp is sized just right to make sure your substrate gets hot enough before it slides out of the zone.

The Power Stuff

We use 240V because it lets us push 1600W through the filament without overloading your system. It’s a balance. If you get this ratio wrong, the filament burns out way too fast during those rapid on-off cycles. The best part? The IR output is concentrated. It doesn’t just waste energy heating up the air in the room; it sinks right into the coating or ink.

Why Quartz and Halogen?

Inside the bulb, we use a halogen gas fill. This creates a “cycle” that actually puts evaporated tungsten back onto the filament. Basically, it keeps the bulb from thinning out and dying on you. Then there’s the quartz. When you flip the switch, the heat hit is violent. Cheap glass would just shatter from the shock. Quartz handles it without breaking a sweat.

Real-World Setup

If you’ve got a standard flash-off tunnel, this is a simple drop-in replacement. Just hook it up to your 240V controllers and you’re good to go. But a heads-up: 1600W in a 20-inch space isintense. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, you’re throwing away a huge chunk of your heat. Keep them polished. Also, double-check your wiring. These lamps have a big “inrush” of current when they first strike, and you don’t want to spend your afternoon resetting tripped breakers.
