Make sure your housing gives the tubes room to breathe and expand, or they’ll crack the moment they hit peak load.
The nitty-gritty on materials
We fill our tubes with halogen gas. Why? Because it keeps the tungsten from evaporating too fast. It stops that annoying darkening effect and makes the filament last much longer. The trade-off

If they aren’t aligned perfectly, you’ll end up with “point-loading,” which is a fancy way of saying the glass will snap.
