Getting Flash Curing Right with the 850mm Halogen Lamp
When you’re flash curing, you need a massive hit of heat—right now. You want to set those coatings or dry the ink fast, but you can’t just blast the whole part or you’ll warp the substrate. That’s where this specific quartz halogen setup comes in. The Power Side of Things We built this lamp to run at 415V with a 2000W output over 850mm. Why 415V? Because that’s what most industrial three-phase grids already use. It means you don’t have to mess around with those huge, clunky step-down transformers. At 2000W, the filament hits its target temperature almost instantly. It’s a lot of power packed into a small space, so you get a concentrated burst of energy exactly where you need it. The Science (The Simple Version) The quartz tube is there to handle the brutal heat. Inside, the halogen gas does a bit of a dance—it grabs tungsten off the walls and puts it back onto the filament. This is a big deal because it stops the glass from getting cloudy. Your light output stays steady, and because it uses short-wave infrared, the heat actually sinks into the material instead of just warming up the air around it. Putting it to Work If you have a standard flash-off tunnel, this lamp should slide right in. The 850mm size is pretty common, just make sure your wiring is actually rated for 415V before you flip the switch. But here is a heads-up:these quartz tubes are fragile. If your team touches the glass with bare hands, the oils from their skin create hot spots. Those spots are killers—they’ll burn the lamp out way faster than it should. Tell your operators to use lint-free gloves. No exceptions. And one last thing. Since these lamps throw off an incredible amount of heat in a tiny area, check your exhaust fans. If you don’t move that air out, you’ll end up with heat soak in the chamber, and that’s a mess nobody wants to deal with.
